From a rental perspective, Manhattan is not what it used to be. More and more city-dwellers are leaving the expensive busyness of NYC in order to pursue quieter and more economical lifestyles outside of the traditional Manhattan neighborhoods. One of these areas is Long Island City.

Much has been said about this once solely industrial spot, but the numbers don’t lie – and with billions of dollars pouring into new LIC development projects, the market is on fire. Since 2010, LIC has seen more new apartments than any other neighborhood in the entire country. With 1,426 new units, Long Island City tops the list of NYC hot spots with the most newly approved residential units.

Most recently, we had the opportunity to tour Hunter’s Landing – one of LIC’s newest development projects at 11-39 49th Avenue. We were blown away by the brevity in commute, as it took us a mere 15 minutes to arrive from 34th Street Penn Station. It’s hard to miss the beautiful new building – and the inside amenities are just as appealing as the outside façade.

Developed by The Criterion Group, Hunter’s Landing is comprised of 194 apartments, spanning studios to 1, 2, and 3-bedroom units. In conjunction with the developer, HAAK Architects did an incredible job of layering the entire building with state-of-the-art amenities, including laundry rooms, bike rooms, a dog path, brand new appliances, a fully functional fitness facility, and a beautiful rooftop lounge with breathtaking views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the surrounding LIC area.

We spoke to Steven Irizarry and Justin Martinez – founders of The MI Team at Nest Seekers who hold the exclusive on sales at the building – and they explained that studio units start at around $2,000 per month. In addition to the studio units, we also had the opportunity to tour a $7,000/month top-floor unit that boasts a wrap-around balcony, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and absolutely breath-taking views of the city.

We’re looking forward to covering more of this story as it unveils!
